Local House builders Donate Flower Bed to Community
Local house builders Eastwood Homes and KLH Projects Ltd, who are working together on new homes on School Lane, Kirkheaton, have donated a small piece of land from the site to the local community, which is being
made into a flower bed.Michael Eastwood (Eastwood Homes) and Jeremy Horton (KLH) were both keen to support the area and give something back as part of this latest development of just 5 homes that will be called ‘Church View’.
Whilst working on site, Jeremy noticed a retired gentleman tending to other planters around the village so approached him to ask if he would be happy to oversee the planting of the new 5m x 1.5m flower bed at the edge of the Church View site.
It turned out that the gentleman was a member of the Yetton Together community group – local residents of Kirkheaton and the surrounding area who have got together to promote a community spirit and to improve all their lives – and was more than happy to take over the maintenance of the planter.
In keeping with this community spirit another retired local resident – who lives next door to the site – took a keen interest in the site which resulted in him carving the name of the development into a piece of stone taken from the excavation of the site.
Michael and Jeremy donated a 3ft tree for the planter but also approached their supplier Myers to ask if they would be happy to donate topsoil for the planter, which they kindly did.
Church View is a small development of just five 3 / 4 bedroom homes built on a private drive in natural stone to complement the surrounding environment. As well as the community planter, the team will be fully landscaping the development.
